Thee 1/0 Fatima, Part 1 (CvB_4_PC_1a)

The Eye Of Fatima, Part 1 opens Camper Van Beethoven’s tender coming-of-age-in-Amerikkka soundtrack “Our Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart.” This is the first installment, retroactively i guess…hmm…towards the fullfilling of Penniless Cripples’ request… …wait a sec. Can’t get me ‘ead ’round that one. the whole “Retroactively First” thing…the “Tania” being first (but it’s, like, onna B side, right)… Anywhich witch, it’s the first tune on the album. I had WAY toooo much fun making this, and count it as Sacred Action in a campaign marred by secularism en extremis. I feel i have to acknowledge that even though Anubis apparently opted to remove His images from the final cut they played fantastic in the raws. It’s always an honor. The sigil known as The Eye Of Fatima is the all-seeing eye on an outfacing palm. It’s used to ward off the Evil Eyeâ„¢ and explicate decent rates for quality palmistry and roadside psychic services. I think it was used differently prior to the rise of Fox. Maybe not. Jai Ma Jai!

actually, i always picture a convertible, the whole song is very road-trip themed to me. I didn’t try to capture that, tho; it woulda been like “Wild at Heart” on shrooms. “Tequilla Sunrise Bingo” or such; very “Fear and Loathing”.

Hmmm I get a different visions to that tune but then I am of the opposite gender.

They covered the whole album in 2002, i think…
    ..searching…

  5. BobForehead says:

It’s a very functionally timely work. Have you heard their version of “Tusk”?

  6. etuberalism says:

    Got that right.

Good to hear! i noted that you had found “When I Win The Lottery”; guess i best get busy slapping the rest of “Our Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart” up, and take this opportunity to remind one and all that CvB’s lattest joint, “New Roman Times”, is more than just a font-geek witticism. Thee shouldst one n all check, chek, chezeque it out, a’ight?

you are mad, but then, you know thats a complement! You are right, Tim Leary would’ve liked this part also. Thanks for this Bob. It’s helping…

Why thankee, Ms Jess! Although i’m no monarchist, i do luvz muskets. That’s Mr Victor Krummenacher on bass and backing vocals…yeah, he’s got a nice wide pocket, huh? Him and the drummer do that WhiteBoy raga/ska in a way that doesn’t make me retch is alls i know. See, if you ladies take me on tour with you (i’ll roadie, not just slouch) i can guarantee proper Camper Van Beethoven exposure (which i believe at least Melissa is lacking) AND i’ll make sure we find acid somewhere.

    Glad you like, PC!

To further break with previously over-automoderated stances resulting from what is now clearly a hopeless campaign for Democracy, let me just say that i sincerely hope this encourages the use of psychedelic substances in the general populace. Particularly the Youth. You kids gotta get OUT THERE. Occasional LSD is good for the eye lobes. Like eating carrots.
